And the winner is.....

Reflections! We love this name because it ties directly back to our mission statement which is to "Reflect Christ’s redeeming love by transforming the lives of children, empowering women in unplanned pregnancies, creating families through adoption, and supporting all with counseling and guidance throughout their journey".

Congratulations to our own Sarah Baird, but there were so many great submissions, we decided to give each person who submitted names a swag bag full of DPA goodies. If you made a submission, be sure to check your email to see how you can claim your prize!

Embryo Adoption

Catherine Howe felt the call to embryo adoption when she heard a speaker share that there are over 600,000 embryos frozen in this country, and openness between the adoptive parents, child, and biological parents in embryo adoption is twenty years behind where openness in infant adoption is currently. Many lessons have been learned in adoption including that secrecy and shame are often emotionally harmful to children.

We LOVE honoring our birth mothers here at DPA and on May 1st, we will be having our "Birth Mother Day of Fun" here in Oklahoma City. Day of Fun is an event we are holding for the purpose of allowing our birth mothers to gather and connect with each other and our staff. We are planning to do some painting at our office, tour the Myriad Gardens, and finish the day with some good food and a ride on the Wheeler Ferris Wheel. Events like these are so important for our moms because it allows them to spend time with other women who have walked similar journeys.

If you would like to help us with some of the snacks and supplies for Day of Fun, we have created an Amazon Wishlist where you can purchase some items and they will ship directly to our office. Thanks in advance for your support!

"Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing."
1 Thessalonians 5:11 NIV

Through our #worshipwednesday playlists, we hope that these songs will be an encouragement to all who hear them.  Maybe someone is having a bad week and a song about God's faithfulness is shared or maybe someone has just made a very hard decision and a song about the comfort of the Holy Spirit pops up in their playlist.

Our hope is that you will submit songs that have been an encouragement to you so that they may be an encouragement to others as well.  Whether it is a song that has helped you through your adoption journey, a song that encouraged you through a tough time or a song that reminds you of God's truth in a time of doubt, we would love to share these songs so that we can continue to "encourage one another and build each other up."

Links to the playlists are below and you can send your own playlist submissions to sbaird@deaconessadoption.org
